Announcement: Month Ahead

It’s been a bit of a slow month around here since I went skydiving. Unfortunately, that trend is set to continue, with no new post this week. The good news, however, is that I’ve got a really fun and interesting month ahead (well, I think so at least).

For the next four weeks, I’m going to be giving up my phone. Yep, completely giving it up. No cheap Nokia replacement that’s only capable of calling and texting. I’m going completely old school. And that’s kinda the point. I’ve always longed for an era I never experienced: the pre-mobile phone world. There’s just something so exciting and innocent about it in my head.

Giving up my phone is something I’ve wanted to try for years, but never quite had the courage to do. I figure there will be a whole lot to talk about, so in each of the next four blogs (yep, this is a series), I plan to chronicle a different aspect of the experience that I’ve found interesting.

I haven’t mapped out exactly what these four aspects are going to be yet, as I want to be guided by the experience a little bit. I’m also planning to experiment a little bit more with my writing during this month. My blogs will probably look different to usual, or I might even upload a compilation of different pieces of writing. Either way, rest assured that there will be something new to read on the topic each week.

I’m currently on day four of the first week as I write this, and to give a little sneak peak, the theme for this first blog will probably be around the idea of ‘detox’. Not only have I given up my phone, but for this first week I’ve also given up music, video (i.e., YouTube and TV), and social media.

I hope you’re as excited to read about all of this as I am to write about it. See you next week!
